“I first met Timaya in 2009. Then in 2011, I went to his house, and when he saw me, he asked where I had been all this while. I told him I had been hustling.
He then told me that if I didn’t record a good song, I wouldn’t be leaving his house. At that time, I was living in a ghetto. That same day, I went into the studio and recorded, trying my best to impress him since he was living in an estate and I knew I was already getting free shelter, studio time, and food.
That was how God used him to bless me. We were staying at Maruwa Garden on the mainland, and later I moved with him to Lekki. When we got to Lekki, the hustle continued, and that was where I recorded “Alubarika.” After we dropped the song, everything changed.
If Timaya hadn’t been there .. if he didn’t pay for the video or allow me stay in his house .. I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
