The idea came during a late-night session in Lagos when I had just come back from a small show. No manager. No driver. Just me, a dusty street, and a head full of dreams. I remember thinking, “I may not have superpowers, but I’m still here, still rising.” That moment birthed the hook: “I came from nothing, but I move like Superman.”
The beat was built from scratch — a blend of trap drums, thick 808s, and melodic Afro-trap keys. I wanted it to hit hard but also carry emotion. The producer and I spent hours fine-tuning the kick and layering atmospheric sounds to create tension — like you’re in the middle of a war, fighting for your destiny.
Lyrically, I didn’t hold back. Every bar reflects a real moment: skipping meals to chase studio time, watching people laugh at my grind, walking alone while praying for a breakthrough. I talk about surviving the Lagos hustle, about rising when everyone expected me to fall. But it’s not just my story — it’s for anyone who's ever felt invisible, counted out, or told to “calm down.” “Superman” is for the dreamers with no Plan B.
Recording the vocals was intense. I wanted each line to feel like a punch — not just to the beat, but to the gut. I re-recorded the chorus five times to get the right grit in my voice. No auto-tune fairytales. Just truth, pain, and power.
